The One I Left Behind

Review: I was looking forward to reading another dark and delicious thriller by Jennifer McMahon. Her novels tend to involve murder, someone missing, and deep, dark woods in Vermont. Honestly, much of the novel was a bit formulaic and predictable. I wanted to keep reading, but I wasn't completely compelled and felt a bit bored during the last 20 pages. Maybe the villain should be better developed with a clearer motive throughout the novel.
My favorite part of the novel was the main character, Reggie, and her reflections on her career as an architect, and symbolism developed with how she used nature and her past as inspiration for her designs.
